An micro-cache hidden by a small hill on the Coyote Creek Trail

This is another milestone cache on the Coyote Creek Trail. The Coyote Creek Trail is one of the best multi-use trails in the Bay Area, and it deserves more caches. This is another installment in my quest to correct that deficiency.

The Coyote Creek Trail is mostly flat, so hills on the trail are pretty rare. This cache marks the point where the trail goes up and over a small hill. It's not much. You may not even need to down-shift. The Coyote Creek Trail is part of the Bay Area Ridge Trail. It has to have some hills. You're pretty high above the creek here. While this cache can be reached without leaving the trail, it's probably best to step off the trail to avoid blocking it. There are lots of places to park nearby, but not for the general public. These are private businesses next to the trail, so the parking lots are technically private. Parking on the street is limited. Don't blame me if you park here and get towed. The nearest public parking is on Coyote Road, with a creek crossing at Shady Oaks Park (see Shady Coyotes). The nearest parking areas with restrooms are at the Silver Creek Valley Road Staging Area and Coyote-Hellyer Park. This is a sign-only microcache. Bring your own pen or pencil. I would advise against using water soluble ink.

1/29/09 update: the original cache was muggled. A slightly smaller and cheaper replacement has been placed more out of sight and covered up. Please make sure it stays that way. It is about the size of a mini-matchbox.
