The Secret Path Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Southerntrekker: Hi There

As the owner has not responded to either my log or my colleague's previous log requesting that they check this cache I am archiving it.

Please note that once the cache has been archived, this can not be undone. This is explained in the Help Center - http://support.groundspeak.com//index.php?pg=kb.page&id=70

You will need to create a new listing, put it back in for review and as long as it meets today's guidelines and no other caches have been published in the area causing a proximity problem, then it will be published.

Regards

How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

Multicache in Epping Forest. Two disguised micro caches, each containing half of the final cache co-ords.

The above co-ord is for the most convenient local parking.

Secret Path Clue#1 – N 51 38.416 E 000 00.917
Slotted into Hornbeam tree with ID tag 00390

Secret Path Clue#2 - N 51 38.481 E 000 01.009
Slotted into dead Oak tree with ID tag 01930

Final cache is a small plastic locking container.

Once you have found the final Cache, following the path (named by original cache owners children) you eventually get to the Boundary horseride.
Turn left on the horseride and on reaching the side of the road turn left and walk parallel to the road back to the car.
If you take a right and follow the map provided you will reach the top of Lippitts Hill (or you can just follow the horseride which will bring you out at the bottom of Lippitts Hill. I recommend a stop at the Owl which has a great beer garden in Summer. Dont tease the Water Otter!
Opposite the pub is the Metropolitan Police Air Support Unit helicopter base and can often be seen operating while you sip your pint.
During WW2, the camp was firstly used as an Anti Aircraft Battery manned by Americans and then as a German POW camp. If you peek through the gate you can see a strange concrete figure which was carved by one of the German inmates.
There is also a bunker beneath the camp which was intended to be used in the case of a nuclear attack.

*** AS OTHERS HAVE SAID, THE CONCEALED LIDS ON THE MICRO CONTAINERS CAN BE A BIT TRICKY TO GET OFF. TAKING A PENKNIFE /SCREWDRIVER ETC MAY MAKE IT EASIER. IT IS IMPORTANT THEY ARE TIGHT TO PREVENT WATER GETTING IN ***
