Geocache Description:

The first stage of this two-part multicache will provide coordinates which will lead you to a standard ammo box. It is located very close to the Zorinsky trail path so please be aware of muggle traffic when searching for it. The terrain is fairly level but it might get muddy after the rains. The usual seasonal precautions should apply, ie. long pants, bug spray, etc. Please rehide and recamouflage both caches after finding them.

This cache is placed as a tribute to our greyhound 'Missy' who just turned 13 this last September. In the summer of 1995 I took both of our dogs (Missy and Midnight) for a walk around the Zorinsky trail. About half-way around the lake Missy began to have trouble keeping her balance and she eventually collapsed onto the sidewalk. As I knelt to examine her I noticed an UGLY looking spider crawling off of her belly. She couldn't get up to walk so I picked her up (all 65 lbs. of her!) and had to carry her back to the car which was several miles away. I took her straight to the vet and he ran all kinds of tests on her and I mentioned the spider that I had seen. Sure enough, she was suffering from the bite of a Brown Recluse spider. She spent the next several days in the doggie ICU at the vet and for a while the vet didn't think she was going to survive. She ended up beating the odds and so we are placing this cache as a reminder of that fateful day when we almost lost her to that spider, but didn't.

The first leg of this cache is near the area where we think Missy might have picked up the spider. Brown recluse spiders love to live in and under wood piles and logs.

The final cache is a standard ammo box filled with all kinds of eight legged critters (not real kids!) and assorted spider-related items. There is also a nice FTF prize bag inside for the lucky first-finder of this cache. My 6 year old son picked out the FTF prize, so we hope you enjoy his contribution to the cache. Although there are a lot of spider related items, please feel free to trade whatever type of items you would like along with any TB's you'd like to drop off. What better company for a Travel Bug than a bunch of other bugs? Please take a picture of yourself with the included camera and sign the logbook. Please rehide and recamouflage both caches after you find them. Muggles abound so please be cautious. Thanks!

We hope you enjoy our first cache! Good luck and Happy Caching!
