This cache has been archived.

Nomex: Hi
As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm temporarily archiving this to keep it from continually showing up in search lists. Just contact us when you have the cache repaired, [RED]and assuming it still meets the guidelines[/RED], we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Don't hesitate to email me via the link on my Profile if you have any questions. [red]Please be sure to include the cache name and GC Code, or better yet, the URL of the cache page.[/red]

Thanks for your cooperation!

Geocache Description:

Micro-cache located at the start of the new section of the Coyote Creek Trail

This is the first of 3 caches I placed on the new (relatively) section of the Coyote Creek Trail. The Coyote Creek Trail runs continuously from Anderson Dam in Morgan Hill to near Tully Road (so far) in San Jose. The County Parks part of the trail stops at Coyote-Hellyer Park. North of Yerba Buena Road, it's a San Jose city park trail. Between Yerba Buena and Capitol Expressway is an old forlorn section that needs work. North of Capitol is a newer section that looks as good, or even better, than the county part of the trail. I put a series of caches here to draw attention to this new trail segment. This new section is sandwiched between Coyote Creek and the Los Lagos Golf Course from Capitol Expressway to Stonegate Park. Los Lagos is a public course, owned by the city of San Jose. The trail is gated at each end. The gate is closed after sunset. Don't get stuck between the gates after dark. You can park for free at the golf course, though it tends to be crowded on weekends. You can't technically access the Coyote Creek Trail directly from the golf course unless you are golfing. The closest place to park at the south entrance is at the shopping center at Tuers and Capitol. The closest place to park at the north end is at Stonegate Park at Tuers Road and Gassmann Drive.

The cache is located inside the trail gate. You have to worry about getting locked in, so mind the trail hours. This is near the start of the driving range, only a few feet from the trail. This is a sign-only micro. Bring your own pen. Make sure you close it up tight and replace it the way you found it.

12/29/09 Update: Cache has been replaced farther from the gate and not on the ground. Don't drop it.

11/28/15 Update: The cache was muggled. Its original location was too close to homeless camps, so I moved it to the other end of the driving range, but in a spot out of the direct view of golfers teeing off. Still, stealth may be required.
