The cache is in a small 0.33 litre Tupperware type container with room for only small items. It is easy to retrieve and replace the cache without having to move anything or enter anywhere which is potentially dangerous.
Many thanks to 'adambro' for the revised accurate co-ordinates.
There’s no easy way to access this one. The cache lies on the Pennine Way overlooking Blakeley Reservoir. You can follow the Kirklees Way for 2 miles from Marsden towards Wessenden Reservoir, then pick up the Pennine Way. After picking up the Pennine Way there’s a 50ft steep descent down to a stream followed by a 130 ft very steep ascent up the other side to the cache.
Alternatively, you can park at Standedge car park on the A62 and follow the Pennine Way for a 2.5 mile trek over open moorland via Black Moss. A good percentage of this path is paved but some sections can be bad underfoot and there is a small stream and a stone stile to negotiate.
Whichever way you choose, make sure you are well equipped for any sudden changes in weather conditions.
PLEASE NOTE that there is an alternative path on the OS map from the head of Wessenden Reservoir which follows the contours of the hills, approaching the cache from the south. This path is currently CLOSED due to subsidence and seems unlikely to reopen in the near future.
