Brockamin and Leigh is a beautiful corner of Worcestershire. The tithe barn was the hidden stash for Pershore Abbey 15 miles away in the very fertile and productive Vale of Evesham, so it had to be far enough away from thieves and the barn is massive, but empty these days. Terrain is easy within reach of good roads and fairly flat. Wheelchair users can find the clues but will need help with the cache itself. Parking is easy and there are good walks nearby.
Tupperware box containing: TB Kookie (first time out), 3d bit, wishbone, yellow frog, 2xAA batteries, paper measuring tape, butterfly, pencil & sharpener, folding scissors, spiderman, green plastic troll, metal C60, Malvern 92 brass plaque, candle. To make fine Worcestershire ale, you need water, you need barley and you need hops... The starting co-ordinates are: WGS84 52°10'699 N 2°19'980 W OS-GB SO 77332 53397 The degree co-ordinates of the box (WGS84) are 52°N 2°W. To find the Northing minutes, go to the start and take the last digit of the I.D. number on the blue hydrant then the last digit of the upper number of the yellow hydrant. To find the Westing minutes, take the second last digit on the blue and the first digit on the yellow. Now to find the thousandths of minutes... Start with the Westing. Write down the nearest hour of the first weekend collection = a. Now look on the blue hydrant and walk in the direction shown by C2065 until you reach a foothpath sign. Count the number of letters in the first word of the destination = b. Multiply a by b = c. Now go to the next location: WGS84 52°10'724 N 2°19'098 W OS-GB SO 784 534 On the way, close to where you set off where the road narrows, note down the difference in age between the two gables of the barn conversion = d. Also make a note of the speed limit through the village - there are still one or two reminder markers that have not been pinched. When you arrive, multiply d by the distance to Bromyard in miles rounded down and add this to c to give the westing thousandths. Now to the Northing. Stand by two balls and a lamp post overlooking a tower with a flag pole. Multiply the century the old barn was built by the speed limit = e Now enter the oldest building you can see, and find who donated the chandeliers. Add together the digits of his birth year = f, the digits of his death year = g Multiply f and g = h. Add e and h and swap round the last two digits of this number. This will give you the northing thousandths. If the last location is closed then try this alternative: Look right at the ways in. Take the last three digits of the reverend's telephone number and add it to the day in July Leslie John Alford died = i Add e and i and do not swap round the last digits. This will also give you the northing thousandths. You have all the ingredients, and by now you should have the thirst... Alas the water is in the pipe, the barn has long been emptied and the hop kiln is now a desirable residence. Best to go to: Fox & Hounds (Lulsley, 3 miles west), Talbot (Knightwick, 4 miles west) Fox (Bransford, 2 miles east to Worcester), Bear & Ragged Staff (Bransford, 2 miles east to Powick) or Royal Oak (Leigh Sinton, 4 miles south to Malvern).
