This cache has the curious distinction of being near the highest church in the Cotswolds. We chanced upon its hiding place after getting lost (again) on a walk. Be warned that it can get quite muddy in places.
The cache is in an old French medical box, rather like a small ammo box. It is somewhat smaller than a typical plastic cache container so bear this in mind if you intend swapping. You shouldn’t need the clue – trust your instinct.
Once you have found the cache, we recommend following the valley west back to the nearby village that will bring you close to the church. Regardless of your spiritual inclinations, this beautifully kept 12th century Norman church is well worth a visit with its striking collection of Norman arches and decorative features.
Among these features is a set of gargoyles on the tower, and other medieval carvings. Some of these carvings look quite pagan, including grotesque monsters, birds, and a very Roman-looking centaur, ready to shoot an arrow from his bow.
