This cache is located near the historic Walton Lighthouse along the shores the Bay of Fundy. The Walton Lighthouse and the Look-off are part of the Fundy Shore Ecotour.
The lighthouse was constructed in 1873 and operated until the 1970s, when it was decommissioned. As you drive into the lighthouse site, you will see the old federal wharf and evidence of former gypsum loading operations.
The Walton Lighthouse is one of only a few lighthouses in the region where you can climb up to the lantern room (during the tourist season). Although the lighthouse is only 20 feet tall, it sits on a prominent cliff at the entrance of Walton Harbour and the panoramic views of the Minas Basin are spectacular.
There is also a well-maintained public walking trail that leads from the lighthouse through the woods to a look-off spot along the cliffs. A great spot to watch the changing tides.
The cache is located about 15 metres off the Look-off Trail.
