Geocache Description:

This cache is an ammo can in camo colors in some fairly rough country, but if you find the easy way, it is not so bad. Please be aware that this can be rattlesnake country in warmer weather and you could possibly encounter one. Please keep tabs on your children and make them aware of possible dangers.

I thought about hiding this one at Alabaster Cavern State Park to the south of where we hid this cache. My friend and fellow scouter, the park ranger, denied permission because the state tourism commission felt that geocaching should not permitted because of the many sink holes and the many caves around the park. He could see where geocachers would like to come to this area. He did like for us to place a cache close but outside the park. I told him I had a second alternate and told him where and he said that would be great for them, geocaching and the town of Freedom. We chose a scenic vista overlook of the Cimarron River and the town of Freedom, Oklahoma. The way the colors from the sun light plays on these bluffs can be awe inspiring. This is a beautiful area of Oklahoma. My wife, Queen Tonto, was given the honor of hiding this one because she has been my wife for nearly 44 years. She pick a great place. I was pleased she went with me today and had fun caching and hiding and just generally getting out of the house on a fine day. The cache is an large ammo box that has been painted in camo colors. It is full of goodies with souvenirs from Alabaster Caverns just 5 miles south of the Cimarron River. The beginning items inside the cache are: Alabaster Caverns postcard, bat boomerang, Alabaster Caverns brochure with a wooden nickel attached, a snake ring, a green rabbit foot, a worrying stone, Alabaster Caverns toothpick holder, a flying unicorn (from my wife), a black and a white Great Salt Plains Council BSA patches (from me), a Blue Angel Glider, a ziplock with selenite crystals from the Great Salt Plains Lake area, a white jeep Lorilee Travel Bug (we picked up the jeep in Woodward today) and the usual logbook and pen. Be sure to take in the caverns or at least stop by and say hello and tell them you are geocaching. If you are hungry after searching for this cache. Happy Caching!
