Please Note! Those who are intending to attend the Boat trip, or
park in the Lift car park intending to search for the nearest
cache. There is a charge of £1 for up to 3 hours and £2 for over 3
hours. Blue badge holders park for free. The Stanley Arms has a
clamping policy for Non Patrons, and have requested that no one
uses their car park unless they are actually visiting the pub
The Anderton Boat lift was the worlds first boat lift! Using
caissons (tanks)to raise and lower boats between the Weaver
Navigation and the Trent and Mersey Canal. Know as the Cathedral of
the Canals, due to its imposing stature.
First of all the details of the boat trip. Meeting at the
Anderton Boat Lift at about 09:45hrs. We will embark onto the Edwin
Clark leisure boat for a combined trip along the Weaver Navigation
combined with a trip on the Boat Lift at about 10:15hrs.The
combined trip will last approximately 1 1/2 hours, allowing time to
visit the exhibition before we regroup at The Owl. The cost is £9
per Adult and £6.50 per child (5-15 yrs, under 5 yrs Free).
Concession (over 60yrs)£7.75, please indicate so if you wish to
book a concession. Payment will be collected on the day of the
Journey. All those taking the boat trip also gain free access to
the exhibition area included in the cost of the ticket.
The last date for bookings for the boat trip is Saturday 1st of
April.
The boat trip is accessible to wheelchair users, advanced notice
is required so that the appropriate provisions for access to the
boat can be arranged.
After the trip we will regroup at the The Owl N53°16.230
W002°32.733, for the actual Cache Event. Where we will meet those
who wish to attend just the event. The event at The Owl will begin
about 12:30hrs. .
Due to the No's attending (56+) the Owl has requested that all
