Mount Fagan Summit Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Mule Ears: Apparently the cache has gone missing. I'm archiving this to give another cacher the opportunity to place and maintain a cache atop ol' Mount Fagan.

Geocache Description:

A bushwhack hike to the northernmost peak of the Santa Rita mountains.

The summit of Mount Fagan, the northern outpost of the Santa Ritas, can be had for a roundtrip hike of 5 miles with about 1800 feet of elevation gain. It's located in the Coronado National Forest, but the parking location is on State Trust Land, so a permit will be required.

Mount Fagan

To begin your trek, turn off Highway 83 onto a dirt road at the waypoint "TURN" below (near Twin Tanks on your topo). You'll pass through a gate and follow the main dirt track to the "PARK" waypoint (past The Lake on the topo).

The cache is a small metal box containing a logbook, pencils, and a couple of handmade lanyards. It is wrapped in a denim bag and hidden in the base of a hollow tree.
