This cache has been archived.

andleis: A huge thank you to all "procachers" and students that attended these events. I look forward to doing this again in the future. It was wonderful to finally meet so many familiar names in person and I look forward to meeting up with you all again. Once again, thank you. You really sparked these students.

Geocache Description:

I have been asked to teach Benicia's Gifted and Talented Education (G.A.T.E.) students about Geocaching. Interest is high and students are eager to learn about this high-tech treasure hunt. There's just one small problem...

***ATTENTION***
This is a make-up date for the rainout we had on 3/24/06. This rescheduled event will be at the same cache time and the same cache channel.

We need volunteer cachers to come with their GPSrs to Lake Herman Recreation Area - just outside of Benicia - and lend their expertise, experience, and excitement about "caching" to fourth and fifth graders.

Everything will be ready to go for you. All you will need to do is show up and be willing to answer questions, lead some caching expeditions in the park, and dare I ask this of you... allow the students to see, compare, and use different GPS devices to locate the caches. You would, of course, be with the students and parent chaperones as they search.

Weather permitting, the whole gig will be about an hour and a half long, beginning at 3:00pm and ending at 4:30pm. This is the last opportunity to help out. Please make it you are able:
March 24th, 2006

If that wasn’t enough, I will be bringing signature red-tipped capsules for each volunteer to hide on your own.

Are you available and interested in helping out? Please bring your GPS(s), travelbugs (especially Jeeps), geocoins, signature items, and memorable caching stories to share. The students are very curious about everything associated with geocaching and they would love to see all the fun trade items we play with!

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding this event, please email me through my User’s Profile. You can read up on Gifted and Talented Education in California by clicking on the User’s Webpage link at the top of this page.

Please write a note if you are able to attend. This will give me an idea how to plan for the event. I hope to see you there!
