Geocache Description:

A nice view of Blue Heron nests in the Cottonwood Trees

Park in the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve parking lot by the road. Walk along the dyke to reach the cache. Walk around the Dyke Closed sign and obstruction on the way - this is to keep vehicles out of the area. This area is still open to walkers, bikes and horses. There is a narrow pathway around the obstruction.

After you reach the cache look towards the South-East at the tops of the Cottonwood Trees and you will see a 100 or so nests - especially noticeable when there are no leaves. Continue walking on the Dyke to see more beautiful natural sights. Also enjoy the view of the expansive farm land.
The length of the Dyke from the parking lot to Keith Wilson Bridge is approximately 3.1km.

Also visit the Blue Heron Nature Reserve. In it you will have another viewpoint of the Heron Nests. Also there are many fascinating trails. There are washroome facilities and a museum in the building.
