Geocache Description:

A cache on a road that is now a lot less travelled.

This used to be part of the network of roads that branched out from Mulbring and used to cut across country to the New England Highway via Cessnock, Kurri Kurri or Maitland. This was the way to Kurri Kurri. The network of “old” roads still exists, but have been either upgraded, or in this case, bypassed.

In the '60s I regularly passed over this bridge, and numerous others like it in the area. But now this is really only a sidetrack used by locals going to Mulbring and most of the similar local bridges no longer exist. This is a great one lane wooden bridge, so have a look around and appreciate what was once a common piece of engineering in the 60’s for those that travelled the country roads.

I had been meaning to place a cache here for a while but a recent trip locating Kourumbung (GCQCJX) and then Ghost Picnic (GCR9GG) reminded me to get “it” into gear and place one.

Note that the area under the bridge looks pretty snaky to me (didn’t see any, but would put money on it) and is a bit overgrown so if you want to explore wear good boots and long pants.

I have added the "dangerous area" warning as there are significant drops 3 to 4 meters high around the area so do be vigilant when staring at the GPSr!

WARNING: The hint below is a spoiler.
