Henderson Park Bridge Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Freelancer: I didn't have a chance to check this one out until today (been away on vacation)... and yep... it's gone. Thanks for the heads-up hikerboy. Looks like there has been some people having campfires very close to the cache location. My guess is that they took the utility pole for firewood and stumbled upon the cache.

Met Dreadnaught and Crystal Dawns on my way out and alerted them of the missing cache. Good timing! Nice to meet you both.

Will consider placing another cache in the area in the fall. Such a nice area... saw two red tailed hawks today near their nest site.

Thanks to all that have visited.

Geocache Description:

Located near the Henderson Park Bridge, off of Lower Base Line at the Oakville / Milton border on the banks of the Sixteen Mile Creek.

This stretch of Lower Base Line is currently undergoing a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment for a proposed repairing of what the Towns of Oakville and Milton call "poor condition of the road and bridges." (visit link)

I travel this road often on my way to and from work, and those who have travelled it can attest to it's beauty.

The cache is located near the Henderson Park Bridge, a one lane bridge which crosses the Sixteen Mile Creek. I thought it would be a good spot for a cache so that those who are unfamiliar with the area can enjoy this great rural road and see the bridge before it becomes a modern two lane bridge.

You can visit the other one lane bridge on this road (Barnstable Bridge) if you go in search of Fizbot's Twisted Road cache (GCF9D6). It too may become a two lane bridge in the near future.

The cache is a large rubbermaid container (suitable for travel bugs) and contains several paper maps that I have collected over the years (I'm a geography teacher and I need to purge some of my growing map collection). Please bring a map that you no longer need to trade for one that you may get some use out of. The original contents include:
- World Map (brand new)
- Disney's Magic Kingdom
- Alberta and Saskatchewan in 1905 (brand new)
- South Orlando, Florida
- St. Petersburg, Florida
- City Of Toronto Cycling Trails
- World Development Map (brand new)
- I will be adding Town Of Oakville Trail Maps soon

Parking is tricky. There is only one logical place to safely park (N 43 28.492, W079 47.861) and that is east of the bridge on the south side of the road. The cache isn't too far from the road, so you should be able to keep an eye on your car.

No need to go on private property. There is no trail.
