Geocache Description:

Alone in the field, feeble and gaunt,
Now without those green leaves that it once used to flaunt,
Now without those fabulous pecans that it once ostentatiously adorned,
‘Don’t go near it, it’s haunted’, I have always been warned.

But stubborn that I am, don’t expect me to pay heed,
My curiosity did get the better of me, to the field making me lead,
But hey—no headless ghosts, no weird sounds to make me yell,
Just a grim, desolate chap with a story to tell.

He has always stood there—for years bygone,
A seed to a sapling, a youngster to an oldie, haggard and forlorn,
He has seen it all—spring come and go,
Soil change its colour, people born, people grow.

He has seen it all—his friends hacked, one fateful day,
They creaked and croaked, but who cared what they say,
And those monsters carried them away, brimming with pride,
Leaving him lonely in the field, with just the stumps on his side.

And now what they call ‘eerie sounds’ is just the crack of another breaking bough,
What they call ‘mysterious figures’ are just the bats that haunt it now,
So bravely sturdy yet solemnly it bends,
Oh why didn’t you spare just one of its friends?
