Geocache Description:

I recently discovered this relatively short trail in North Pickering. It's a pleasant ravine setting with an established walking trail, and abundant wildlife. A cache was necessary!

There are two possible trailheads:

Trailhead #1: N43 50.6149 W79 06.9534
Located on Fairport road, just north of Finch Avenue. Providing you hug the curb, street parking is OK. Entry is well marked.

Trailhead #2: N43 50.6667 W79 07.3957
A (slightly) more challenging and more enjoyable entry. Coordinates bring you to the actual beginning of the trail leading off of an Ontario Hydro access road. Access to the gravel road is via Whites Road, just north of Amaretto Avenue, and is on the east side just before you pass under the triple power lines. Google Satellite will provide a birds-eye view!

Trailhead #1 is quicker, but during damp weather the trail may be a slightly mushy in some spots. Trailhead #2 provides a more enjoyable challenge, and is a slightly longer stroll in the pleasant surroundings. Additionally, it is on higher (and as such, drier) ground.

As with any Geocaches in wooded areas, some amount of damp trails are unavoidable during the wet seasons, and after rain. Proper Geocaching footwear is recommended for either trail except when dry conditions would be expected - these are not paved trails!

Please use designated trail entries to reach this cache - residents of nearby streets that may appear closer will not appreciate cachers dashing through their property to reach the ravine.

The ravine area is dog friendly, and should be JuniorCacher friendly with adult assistance in some areas. GPS signal strength may be an issue on some parts of the trail due to the tree canopy. The immediate area of the cache it should be clear enough to provide adequate signal for the zero-in.

The cache is a standard green ammo box located a short distance off the trail. Remain on the trail untill the last few meters - there is no need to bushwhack.

Please re-hide the cache well, as this is a popular trail frequented by neighbourhood kids. CITO (Cache In, Trash Out) would be appreciated by those so inclined - lets keep our forests clean!

Cache contains a variety of items at time of placement, including several items suitable for FTF prizes. Several Travel Bugs are also resident - please grab them and help them move along!

Enjoy the cache!
