Fortification Hill
& Mound Cemetery
Adjoining Mound Hill Cemetery, this overlook of Gallipolis
and the Ohio River Valley
served as an emplacement of Union artillery in the Civil
War.
It has a spectacular view of the Ohio River and
surrounding area.
Union soldiers were able to see enemy advancing and fire
cannons from the point.
Take a minute to enjoy the view here.
The Mound Cemetery holds the remains of some of these war
heroes.
This is such a beautiful old
cemetery.
Cemetery has 4803 grave markers.
Your first cache located at the scenic overlook is a
magnetic key holder that holds the coordinates to
the
2cd stage ammo box located on the edge of the
cemetery.
