Kualoa Ranch is one of the most historically significant places on
Oahu.
The highest peak atop the Kualoa ridge called Kanehoalani,
towers 1,900 feet skyward and means "Kane's heavenly
companion."
In 1850, Dr. Gerrit P. Judd purchased the land from King Kamehameha
III and the property has remained in the family ever since. The
current family owners strive to be role-model stewards of the 'aina
(land) by preserving and protecting it from development.
Hollywood has used the astonishing vistas and unequaled natural
splendor at Kualoa Ranch as backdrops in many famous movies and TV
shows. These include Jurassic Park, Tears of the Sun,
Windtalkers, Pearl Harbor, King Kong, and the
TV drama series, Lost.
Team GeoBlast is very pleased to announce the first Geocache at
Kualoa Ranch. After meeting with the owners of the property, we
feel safe in saying that Geocaching in Hawaii has a new friend.
While these two caches are placed near the visitor center, there's
a myriad of possibilities at Kualoa Ranch and depending on how
things progress, there may be more hides and possible events in the
future!
