Geocache Description:

As Toby Creek gently meanders through the hills on its way to its confluence with the Clarion River, its orange tinted waters gush gently through a thick forest of pine to create an immensely serene location, as well as a great place for a geocache at a spot known locally as Stone Camp.

This cache, hidden in a rectangular clear plastic, can be found on the banks of this very pleasant creek and the hike to it will bring you along its peaceful banks. The site of the cache is near the "Stone Camp" as well as a very old bridge or dam that has sunken into the water, creating a very deep pool of crystal clear water; a cove, if you will.

From Route 66, turn just past the trailer homes or from Miola Rd turn in at the Highland Furnace and head to the bridge over Toby Creek. There's space on the upstream side for about one car at N41 15.515, W079 22.098, or there's a larger parking area just up the hill before you reach the bridge. You'll find a trail just next to the bridge marked by a no motorized vehicle sign.

The trail you will folow is a very old abandoned road. You will soon reach a water hazard at Step Creek, where you can see the remnants of the bridge that once stood there. Keep following it parallel to Toby Creek until you reach the cache area. Just before reaching the cove you will pass through the remnants of some cabins. The cache is across the stream from here, you're best bet is to find the sunken bridge to cross.

The old road is rather flat and easy to follow with some occasional mud (which gets worse as you go along.) From the parking to the cache you will only hike about 3/4 of a mile. The only real challenge will be the numerous water hazards. Your feet will get wet during this cache.

In the summer months you might want to bring a towell and stop for a swim in the large pool at the cache. It is a pristine little paradise that you are sure to enjoy.

Update 12/11:
The cache was still right where it's always been and I didn't see any logging in the immediate area of the cache like some reported. I rehid the cache in a hopefully more obvious spot. Thanks to whoever bagged the cache container. I will replace it with a better container after New Years! I also changed the name of the cache to reflect the name that locals seem to use for the area.
