A walk out onto open moors.
The cache is high on the exposed moors above Blanchland. There is a nearby shooters hut which is generally unlocked and a good place to enjoy your sandwiches on a cold day. The cache itself is just off the "Carriers Way" which traverses the moors above Blanchland and Allendale. Once upon a time this must have been a well used track but is little more than a sheep track in places these days. There are several starting places for this cache.
1. Blanchland with it's large car park is an ideal place if you are looking for a good walk out. You will need a map and know how to use it.
2. Take the steep road out of Baybridge and park at the top of the hill around N54.51.000, W002.04.140. There is room to park at the top and the now diverted path leaves behind the installaton on the edge of the moor. It is around 1.5 miles to the cache from here and is the levellest approach.
3. We used the route from Hesleywell at the top of Hexhamshire today. N54.52.004, W002.07.240. You will definitely need a map from here as the route is not clear and is pathless in places.
