This cache is just off the trails between Bennett Park and Camp Frances in Charlotte.
Bennett Park is a 117-acre park located on the south end of town. The park includes picnic facilities, hiking and nature trails, six horseshoe pits and two playground sites. Camp Frances is an area within Bennett Park that has a fire bowl and a cabin that was donated for use by groups and organizations. The cabin has restrooms, a kitchen and a fireplace.
Access to Bennett Park and the road to Camp Frances are both off Cochran Avenue just south of the fairgrounds. Which place to park? It will be a longer walk from Bennett Park but there is paved parking. The walk is shorter from Camp Frances but the entrance road is often very muddy and the parking more rustic. Most of the trails in the park are flat and easy walking; a few have mild ups and downs with steep edges. Pets on a leash are welcome on the trails.
No bushwhacking is required and the cache should be easy to find. The terrain and difficulty ratings reflect which paths you might choose and tree cover. The cache is started with all new trade items and a first finder prize. Have fun!
