The original container here went missing after a bulldozer tore
away half of the large bush it was in. The cache has been replaced
with a boring micro, since I don't have a replacement for the camo
on the original cache. It's no longer in the recycling theme
either, except that I've recycled the general location and the
cache page. Hopefully it's a more fun to retrieve than the original
though. :) Please put it back in the same spot.
The cache marks an entrance for the peculiar "Shannon Valley
Open Space." I don't know how long it's been here, but it's not
been long. It's an odd spot, and I suspect that the staggering
quantity of "no trespassing" signs that surround it are the
neighbors' doing. They probably would have gone the Basil Fawlty
route and put up "No Riffraff!" signs if they could have. :)
Besides all of the no trespassing signs, there are obvious public
trail signs and listed parking hours. You actually have to walk
past a Private Property sign just past the vehicle gate to continue
along the well-signed trail, so it appears that the signs are
intended to keep you on the trail itself. That theme continues on
much of the trail system here.
There are actually several trailheads into the open
space, although some don't have parking and another is too close to
another cache to allow me to mark it with another... This is one of
the good ones. Trail hours are 7am to sunset, but the parking lot
is open longer.
