Lots of people take a stroll along the Pineapple Track from the
southern end to the top but then head back to the carpark at the
Bullring. This little ammo can cache is an incentive to either
complete the track or try it from the northern end. If starting
from the north, park at the end of Booth Rd
While GPS reception isn't the best under the canopy, at the
cache location reception is fine, as are the views!
There's also a drinking post about 1/4 of of the way up from
Booth Rd. at S 45° 50.303 E 170° 29.415.
"The Pineapple
Track was named after the traditional sharing of a tin of pineapple
provided by a grocer who guided early parties climbing the track.
The empty tins were hung like trophies on nearby trees and fence
posts, a practice no longer considered environmentally
acceptable."
