Geocache Description:

You can park at N45'45.953 W062'09.087. Proceed down trail a short distance to huge landmark. You must approach cache from the North East & carefully proceed up the narrow trail.

Referred to by the locals as "The Big Rock", this landmark on the shore of the Northumberland Strait in Arisaig is also known as The Frenchman's Barn after a French ship was wrecked there in the 17th century. As the legend goes, these sailors were caught up in a North Easter and mistook the huge building shaped rock as a barn and a place to take shelter. After smashing their boat on the rocks, survivors were met by unfriendly natives where they met their doom.
