Geocache Description:

A short walk along the explorer trail from the lookout of one of the highest points in Albany.

Another one of our favourite spots in our most favourite town in Western Australia - Albany!

This cache is named after a famous Australian author and poet, who once wrote a column in the 'Albany Advertiser' called 'Straight Talk' under the pseudonym Joe Swallow when he lived in Albany in the 1890's. This same famous person also wrote a beautiful and moving poem about the very place where this cache is hidden. Don't know who he is yet? Well he used to be on the back of the old paper $10.00 Australian notes! (With these clues, a Google search should help you)

You will have to park in the lower carpark and walk the 80 odd steps to the ANZAC Light Horse Memorial, unless you are a tourist bus or have an ACROD permit. Take a minute or two to view the memorial and remember those who gave their lives to Australia.

Make your way around to the viewing platforms and lookout over beautiful Princess Royal Harbour and out to the Southern Ocean.

There is an explorer trail around the mountain from the lookout platform. The cache is hidden behind a very large rock, about 2 steps off the walk trail, approx 100 metres from the lookout platform.

The cache is a clear plastic lunchbox with the usual cache goodies. We have also included a copy of the poem for you to read.

We hope you enjoy this cache...!
