Interessante edificio dei primi decenni del XII secolo, con un nucleo centrale più antico di diversi secoli. Elegante e sobria, l'imponente struttura absidale è situata ai limiti di un folto bosco: già ricordata nel 1140 come monastero vallombrosano. Suggestive sono le primitive raffigurazioni sui pilastri del chiostrino e le residue tracce di numerosi affreschi che decoravano gli interni della chiesa. Sul bel portale in arenaria del XIV secolo, da cui si accede all'abbazia, spicca lo stemma di Matteo Frescobaldi, all'epoca abate del monastero. Nella sacrestia è collocato un affresco di scuola fiorentina che raffigura una madonna in trono.

Abbey of St. Martino in Campo
The church was founded by the Benedettini around the half of the 11th century except for the inner more ancient part.
100 years later it collapsed and was reconstructed in wide sections; later, it passed to the Vallambrosiani's and eventually to the Agostiniani's order.
The inner preserves beautiful 15th century frescos by Antonio di Miniato.
