Geocoin Exchange Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

John NW: Went today for a maintenance visit and to move the MN coin on - but the cache had been trashed - the can was beaten up and the lid was missing - so a family of snails had moved in, however someone had moved wind wizards coin out all that was left of that was the plastic holder. So Sorry windwizard - as a RIP we will archive the cache and leave the picture of your coin as the background. Thanks for everyone who visited or planned to having solved the nasty puzzle.

Geocache Description:

THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE ABOVE CO-ORDINATES. This cache is a younger brother of one of our favourite caches in Stuttgart - Pool Billard - QuizCache 2(1) ( GCG1J7). With kind permission we can use it here. Please DO NOT visit the cache location at night - it is a lovely area but at night unsavoury characters have a habit of congregating there

 

BILLARD

And now to the riddle:

The 15 pool balls have to be arranged in a triangle such that the difference between the numbers of two adjacent balls is the number of the ball on top of them.

In the example on the picture above the difference between the balls 6 and 2 in the bottom row of the triangle is 4, the ball on top of them is number 4 which is correct. Ball 7 to the right of ball 2 differs 5, so ball 5 should be placed on top of 7 and 2. But as you can see number 8 is there, which is wrong and marked by a red circle.

The ball number 6 in the lower left corner is already in the right place. This ball is given so that we have an unambiguous solution. To get more fun out of puzzling and make it a bit easier we have a java applet as a little helper, just follow this link:

IN THIS CACHE ONLY GEOCOINS ARE TO BE CHANGED. EACH EXCHANGE IS DONE IN A "ONE FOR ONE" WAY. THERE IS NO OTHER OPTION. THERE WAS JUST 1 COIN WHEN THE CACHE WAS CREATED AND HENCE DURING THE EXISTENCE OF THE CACHE THERE MUST ALWAYS BE JUST ONE COIN INSIDE.
