The cache is located about a mile south of Williamsburg on SR 187. From I-25 take exit 75. It’s a decon container which we started with a log book, pencil and a few small trade items.
The Rio Grande River, known as the Rio Bravo del Norte in Mexico, is but a shadow of it’s former self. Nature and man have both played major roles in the destiny of this 1800 mile long waterway. Rising in the San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado, the river flows south through central New Mexico then southeast forming a border between Texas and Mexico. It eventually empties into the Gulf of Mexico at Brownsville, TX/Matamoros, Mexico. Border disputes between the U.S. and Mexico resulted from shifts in the river’s channel. It wasn’t until 1968 that a 114 year controversy over the location of the border at El Paso was finally settled by diverting the water of the Rio Grande through a concrete channel.
