Yabba Dabba Dooooooo Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

CTReviewer: Greetings from Geocaching.com

I have been looking at caches in the area that have been temporarily disabled for a while now and it looks like your cache has been under the weather for some time. While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time I don’t think we can do so any longer. Therefore, I have archived this cache. If you haven’t done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

When repairs to this cache are completed and it is time to have it reposted, it will be no problem. Just drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. You will still be able to access your cache page just as before by going to your “My Cache Page” and clicking the link of your cache.

I will be more than happy to take a look at your cache again to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future.

Thanks for your understanding,
CTReviewer

Geocache Description:

I had passed this spot many times while driving through Hartford, only catching a glimpse of it each time. Then, on a recent trip to the Wadsworth, I made a point to look more closely.

It’s like a step back to Bedrock Bowl. A spot where good ole Twinkle Toes Flintstone and the Rockland Rockets would have felt right at home!

You will start this multi-cache at the coordinates listed above. Here you will find a plaque describing this display. Please make note of the date listed.

Now, normally I would lead you to the next stage however, due to the .10 mile minimum for cache placements, I was unable to incorporate several additional impressive points of interest nearby so let me take a moment to point them out lest they be overlooked. As you head to the next stage, you will see on the corner the Grandchild of the glorious Charter Oak, farther down the street is the Ancient Burial Ground (truly amazing, if you have the time) and embedded in the sidewalk is a plaque commemorating the original location of the Hartford Courant, the longest continuously published newspaper in America. Whew, I can’t believe how much history is here and that’s all within 100 feet. So on to the next stage…

Stage 2:
Remember that date from stage 1? Take the last 3 numbers and subtract:

111 to obtain N41 45.xxx
592 to obtain W072 40.xxx

You will find a plaque on the wall outlining the details of the journey. Find how many cattle came along.

Stage 3:
Take the number of cattle from stage 2 and add:

612 to obtain N41 45.xxx
288 to obtain W072 40.xxx

Count the number of spokes in the wheel. Interesting sculpture, eh?

Final Stage:
Take the number of spokes and multiply by 50 (yes, multiply!) and add:

467 to obtain N41 45.xxx
zero to obtain W72 40.xxx

Final cache is a magnetic micro - 1" x 1"

Parking is always a challenge in Hartford but all subsequent stages are within walking distance of the beginning coordinates. Because this is downtown Hartford, I would not suggest doing this cache after dark. Muggles abound.
