Just north of Wingen on the New England highway in the upper Hunter valley, cache is located at the top of Burning Mountain. Large park at the bottom with some free camping facilities and toilets.
The cache is a large green plastic tub hidden near the top of the trail. The cache contains some pretty decent loot to help ease the pain of finding this cache, so please bring along some decent swaps so future cachers have something to look forward to (no maccas toys freebies etc in this one please, you can let the kids go mad with The Burning Foothills cache at the bottom though). This is a fairly hard walk that will take from 20 minutes if your really fit to over an hour just to get to the top, so take plenty of water, food, hat, sunscreen etc. There are plenty of rest stops along the way, so use them if your not as fit as you would like to be, and take it easy on yourselves as this is a remote location, with no water and some sun exposed walking to be done. When searching for the cache, please be conscious of snakes, and make your way slowly but with plenty of grass crunching so any snakes can get out of the way. Also, if your running out of daylight, DONT BOTHER ATTEMPTING as your will need plenty of light to search by, and walk back out by. And do yourself a favour and take along the clues, as I think this cache could prove to be fairly hard for some to locate. Lastly, enjoy the experience of the burning mountain, but stay off the burning area, it is highly possible to step onto unstable ground and sink into the hot rock. Remember your not terribly close to any medical help, so use common sense.
