Clarington Winter Thaw
Meet & Greet Pub Event
Saturday March
25th/06
Finally! An event out the east end of the GTA. Yes its true.
Saturday March 25th/2006 we are hosting an event in Bowmanville to
get some cachers out this end of the GTA. Come on out to our
stomping grounds and meet some local cachers from Durham and all
points around. When posting your RSVP, could you please indicate the
number of people in your group or that will be attending with you.
Thank you.
There will be a day event starting at 10am that will take you on
a tour of historic downtown Bowmanville so be sure to bring your
GPS. The posted co-ords are the suggested parking co-ords and is
where the event will start from. This is the most central location
to get to all the stages. There will be someone at this location
for most of the day for people to check in. Here cachers will
receive their start up package and any final details to get them
started. We estimate the entire event should take approx. 3-4 hours
to complete. This is not a timed event and there is no race to
finish first. The only gear we ask you to bring is a writing
implement. Also feel free to bring your FRS and tune into the
Geo-Help channel (2) and listen for hints or tips. More details to
be posted soon so be sure to watch this listing. And of course
there will be TB trading too so feel free to drop some bugs. We've
heard rumors that some special bugs will be making an appearance at
this event. So watch for those! You might be one of the "lucky"
ones that gets to take one home.
The pub portion is self explanitory. Meet with fellow cachers
and exchange stories of geocache adventure.
UPDATE!: We have a location fianlly. Victor from Hanc's in
Bowmanville has come to the rescue and is more than happy to let us
invade his establishment for the evening. So the Pub portion will
start at 5pm at Hanc's. Its located in downtown Bowmanville at
N43'54.681 W078'41.190. For people that can't find the co-ords the
address is 89 King Street East. Parking is in front and around
back. You enter in through the door under the "Its Hanc's Too"
sign, not the take-out door. Victor tells me to tell all of you to
come hungry. And apparently the Fish&Chips come highly
recommended. The menu is quite extensive and has a little bit of
something for everyone. They do serve Geo-beers but kids are always
welcome they tell me. We will have the upper portion to
ourselves.
And of course the Pub Bug will make its appearance and hopefully
go home with someone new..
From this event there are 19 caches within 10kms. They all vary in
difficulty and adventure. If you plan on doing any and would like
to know about any of them, drop us a line and we will be able to
give you some info on them.
