This cache is a decon container hidden less than 300 feet from a Michaux State Forest road and just off the pathway of a blue-blazed trail. Only 30 feet of bushwacking is necessary here, unless you wish to do more as a shortcut to the cache. Using the trail requires a short, moderately steep climb before reaching the cache area. The difficulty rating is based, in part, on the ability to maintain satellite signal even in the winter. The coordinates posted are based on a number of averaged readings in winter conditions with two brands of GPSr units. Limited parking is available at N39 53.594' W077 28.942' and nearby. Please do not park in or block any cabin driveways. (Note: the access road to this cache receives no winter maintenance; the road may be dangerous or impassible if it is snow or ice-covered. If you do seek this cache under these conditions, only do so approaching the parking area from the South).
If you closely observe the trees in the cache area, you should be able to see the connection between the cache name and the site. Forest fires can be devastating, but except in the most intense fires, some trees may be able to survive and help reseed a fire-damaged area.
Good luck in your search, and remember... PREVENT FOREST FIRES!
