Geocache Description:

This two-part cache begins at the Main Street Green, a small, pocket city park. There cachers will explore the park to get the information necessary to determine the coordinates for the second stage.

The posted coordinates are for the Main Street Green, a small park in the middle of Pleasanton and the first part of this multi-cache. Look around the park to get the numbers you need to figure out the coordinates for the actual cache which is located a few blocks away.

The numbers from the side of the yellow fire hydrant under the word GLOW

J=_____ K= _____ L=_____

M =_____ N =_____ O=_____ P=_____

The numbers from the street sign on the power pole on the east side of the park.

Q=_____ R= _____ S=_____

The numbers from the silver disc on the heritage tree.

T=_____ U=_____ V=_____

The number of pine cones on the memorial plaque.

W=_____

The number of bunches of grapes on the unusual bench at the front of the park.

X=_____

Figure the cache coordinates through some simple math:

N 37* 3A.BCD
W 121* 5E.FGH

A= W + M_____

B= M + Q_____

C= V - T_____

D= N – K_____

E= X – U_____

F= N – R_____

G= X + T + M_____

H= J + L - U_____

Part II of this multi-cache is a brownish plastic container, about 8 inches high and 6 inches wide, holding a log book, pencil and some trade items. The container is roomy enough for visiting travel bugs. As you get ready to access Part II, watch out for a sneaky NO PARKING sign.

The cache is named for the California Towhee, a bird often seen in this area. California Towhees are brownish, ground dwelling, often secretive birds with short conical bills. They can often be seen making a kind of hop-scratch movement to kick leaves back and uncover seeds and insects. California Towhees have a faintly streaked throat and show a rusty colored area underneath their tails.
