"A" is for Appenge Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

pghlooking: Cache lasted quite some time, surprisingly. Sent an adoption request to someone, and then low and behold it disappears. Coincidence? Oh well. It was APPENGED which is only fitting!

Geocache Description:

Recently it was brought to my attention that people have been logging various caches, TBs, and coins virtually. Any virtual logging of TBs or coins will be deleted and reported to GC as a violation of the guidelines. If the TB does not actually go into the cache, doesn't fit into the cache, wasn't placed into the cache, or the cache was disabled at the time of your dropping of the TB, it is against the rules of this cache. Another words, if the action didn't happen then don't log that it

The Alphabet Series

Main entry: Appenge
Pronunciation: &-'penge
Etymology: Suburban Pittsburgh appengen, probably from appeng (+ appengish to appenger) from Latin appengum noun, verb, adjective, adverb

The first letter of this series is "A" for Appenge. It is a classic example of how not to hide a cache. It is a simple magnetic keyholder placed in an area that holds no major attraction. No one will walk away with thoughts and memories of what a great area, view, hike, or bonding experience this was. Instead they will wonder why I brought them to yet another parking lot with nothing for their kids to do. This cache was placed to show new cachers how NOT to hide a cache. While it does meet all of Groundspeak guidelines, it is worthless in so many ways. Use some thought. Find an interesting place. Show people a view or something that they might not know about in another way. Don't waste their time taking them to parking lots to show them guardrails and lamp posts. It does offer ice cream which is about the only thing positive though. So enjoy the Ton of Fun, but PLEASE don't hide anything that resembles this cache in any way.

This cache is placed at Kings Restaurant with the permission of both the shift and general managers. Please respect the business and their patrons while hunting this cache.

The Alphabet Series is a series of caches with a special meaning.   You will need to collect number/symbol combinations at randomly selected caches in the first 25 of this series. You will need this information for the final letter "Z" which will be a puzzle cache. There will be useless number/symbol combinations placed also so please collect them all to gain access to the final. Anyone wishing to hide a high quality cache in this series please contact me with your ideas. No further caches in this series will be hidden in this manner...Or even hidden at all. Instead we might just allow the series to waste away like so many lamp post micros that owners just abandon..

Some notes:
The cache is not located in the lamp post. There are live electrical wires placed there. Reaching in would be a hazard. Common sense should tell you that this is not a good hiding place for a game piece in in any game including this one.

This is a micro and if you don't like micros then don't hunt it. If you do hunt it, then don't complain about it in your log.

I reserve the right to delete any and all logs on this page at anytime as the cache owner.

Let this be the last parking lot micro we have to endure. We have all seen enough of them and know them to be lame. If it's numbers you are after, feel free to log this as much as you would like, although I might delete multiple posts.

Critics beware! Stay away from this one. You won't like it-- so please don't come. No one is forcing anyone to do these caches. Please stay away.
