Geocache Description:

April 22, 2006 CITO
http://www.cacheintrashout.org/

It is that time of year again to walk the talk. We extol the virtue of Geocaching so much by telling Land Managers how we CITO that is Cache in and Trash Out for the uninitated. Well now is the time to let the rubber meet the road so to speak. The Federation and Soulbait agreed to move our normal CITO Event out of Jacksonville this year and bring it south to Putnam County. Well we are going to try and do something a little bit different. If there is any one thing that NEFGA likes to do Better than cache that is use our Jeeps. So here is the Challenge NEFGA we are going to choose a large section of The Northern area of The ONF and Clean it up. I encourage you all to form teams so Non- Jeepers will have access to areas as well. As teams begin to form please post here. We will be contacting The Forestry Service and Greenways and Trails people for recommendations and possible sponsorship opportunities.
We will also offer dinner after the cleanup possibly Bar-B-queing something we can scrape up.
Things to bring:
lunch
work gloves
poking sticks
Trash Bags
a Trailer or 2 might be nice
A desire to give back to the places we enjoy so much.

Update:
I have been scouting the area and I have seen some really nasty areas that need to be cleaned. I have seen some Jeep specific areas, some truck & trailer needed areas and some areas where hiking would be prefered. I have received quite few door prizes for the event so I am adding the following prize categories to the event.

Cat1: The cacher or team who collects the most trash by weight while hiking
Cat2: The cacher or team who collects the most trash by weight while driving
Cat3: The cacher or team who collects the single largest piece of trash, refuse, garbage etc.
Cat4: The cacher or team or collects the largest automobile part or item ie tire, bumper, fender, hood etc.
Cat6: The Scavenger Hunt cachers/teams will be competing in this catgory by finding as many items on the scavenger hunt list as possible. No item will be placed on the list that I have not personally seen in the area we will be cleaning.
List A tire, A Bike, A Couch, A bag of glass bottles at least 20, A bag of paper at least 5 lbs, A boat, A car part other than a tire, An Appliance, other items will be added as the date near
Update 4/19/2006
We will be meeting at 9:00 am at the coords posted on the cache page. I will be updating them during this update. Everyone needs to bering bags for trash, gloves, rakes and other implements of destruction. The North end of ONF is open game for clean-up. I really apologize for the lack of planning for this event but I am sure that 60 crazed geocachers can find some reasonable spots to clean as well as hide a few caches. Here is the game plan for the day, We will all meet at the posted coords at 9:00 am we will discuss the areas that need to be covered and where each of us will be working areas are first come first cleaned. Our secondary objective for the day will be to seed at least one cache for the balance of the weekend events. Once caches have been hid we will distrubute them at lunch for everyone to hunt post event. Prizes will be awarded at the event based upon some dubious method derived by the event oraganizers.
Camping: camping will be optional for those coming in on Friday, I regretfully have to inform everyone that I will not be able to offically plan a Friday night camp. As everyone knows there are many wonderful areas opn the North end of the forest. For those who wish to camp on Saturday night we will have a designated area by Saturday morning.
CITO: we will clean from 9 till 1. At 1 we will meet at the designated area to be released on Saturday morning for a lunch of Bar-B-Que animal. The Fed will be supplying the meat if others can bring the necessary fixins.ie baked goods, chips ect.
4-Wheeling is and will be considered a fun and intergal part of this event. Please remember to follow all applicable trail rules of The Forestry Service. If you see areas that need cleaning but are not Jeep accessible please consider hiking into those areas for clean-up.
Saturday Night: The Federation has a special treat for those who chose to spend some time with us on Saturday evening. I have a virgin patch of forest and trails that have never been explored by Geocachers. What does that mean to you, MUD, Water, Waders, Hi-Lift Jacks and Winches. I have never fully explored this area for lack of the proper equipment. If you want to help seed this area for other cachers and Jeepers please stick around and make plans for our Saturday night Jeep Run.
