Geocache Description:

A stunning viewpoint on a great little hill. Arnside Knott 522ft asl.

Arnside Knott is a hill with a summit elevation of 159 metres (522 ft), near Arnside, Cumbria.  Although it is not in the Lake District National Park, lying south of the River Kent which forms the south eastern boundary of the national park, it is within the Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and is cared for by the National Trust.

Arnside Knott is the lowest Marilyn (ie a hill with over 150 m of topographic prominence) in England.  The ultimate summit, complete with Trig point, is a short walk (500m) east along the 'ridge' from the cache.

Beautiful walking through the oak woods around the Knott.  Easy parking to the west and myriad paths lead up to a handy topograph near the cache.  Extensive views all round from Milnthorpe, Howgills, The Lakes, Whitbarrow, Hampsfell above Grange, the estuary and Morecambe Bay.

Originally hidden by Charlie.
