Wolfe's Neck Challenge Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Gob-ler: This cache has been around for a long time. As I entered the park I had a great visit with John at the gate. I fully support their efforts to keep people on the trails in this delicate and beautiful area.

So, the decision is that this cache has lived a full life. Thank you to all who came seeking.

Please stick to the trails!

Cache on!

Geocache Description:

A 2-part cache with a 1.5 mile round hike through a very scenic park. (We named this after a similar cache in a similar park in Bath -- Thorne Head Challenge.)

Wolfe's Neck is a very popular state park in Freeport. This cache will give you the opportunity to see a good bit of it just by following the trails from the parking lot to part 1, then part 1 to part 2 and back to the parking lot. The coordinates listed are for the first part -- a small watertight container -- where you'll find the coordinates of the regular-sized, part 2 cache.

There's a small notepad in the first cache and a pencil if you want to write down the location of the 2nd part and a few tiny cache items to exchange.

The park is open all year and a great place for X-country skiing. There's a nominal entrance fee, but the gate from the road to the parking lot is not always open off season so just park on the road and walk (or ski) in.

Enjoy your time in this beautiful special place.
