The locals laughingly refer to this as the Rainbow Bridge because of it's high arc over the Shepody River. The story goes that a team of engineers "from away" were hired to design a bridge that needed to contend with the mighty Fundy tides. That is not a problem here, the Shepody is a quiet river that meanders through flat marshlands and boasts good trout fishing. Sadly this modern concrete, utilitarian structure replaced in 1979 a covered bridge that was burned as a Halloween hoax.
