This track is marked on the map as "Cadgers Road"
A cadger was a small independent fish merchant or a person who helped unload the boats and carry goods to the local village. If you look at the way the track seems to be going though, it goes nowhere near a harbour where goods would be unloaded or towards Arbroath or any of the small villages, where presumably the goods would be headed.
The path leads directly to the cliffs between Arbroath and Auchmithie, directly above the caves reputed to be used for smuggling. Perhaps this was actually a smugglers trail?
This section takes you close to Kinaldie Holdings, several smallholdings set on the road looking out to sea.
The start of the path is down the side of the kennels.
