Geocache Description:

This is an interesting micro placed in a peaceful little park overlooking Main Street. The park is dedicated to B.C. Rogers, a pioneer in the contract poultry industry. Please use stealth and BYOP.

Early in his business career, Bennie Clyde Rogers owned and operated a number of businesses in the Morton area, including a hardware store and a service station. During World War II, he even owned an egg drying plant which processed powdered eggs for the military.

A feed store owned by Mr. Rogers was known for some time as Purina Mills' largest customer. It was out of this feed store that the contract poultry industry in Mississippi was born. Mr. Rogers began small by providing area farmers with chickens and feed, and then buying back the chickens after they were grown. The company bearing the name of it's founder, B.C. Rogers, went on to become what was once the largest independent poultry company in Mississippi.

For his pioneering contributions to the poultry industry in Mississippi, B.C. Rogers was honored as the 1st inductee into the Poultry Hall of Fame at Mississippi State University.

Please be discreet and careful not to trample plants while searching for this cache.
