‘Flying Fox 2’ cache is at the site that the flying foxes that once roosted in the Melbourne Botanical Gardens chose themselves as their new roosting area after they were harried to leave the Botanical Gardens where they had made an unacceptable mess over many years. An attempt was made to encourage them to roost at Horse Shoe Bend on the Yarra River at Ivanhoe but they weren’t persuaded that it was a suitable spot (see Flying Fox 1). The size of the colony has slowly built up over the years and is now estimated to be up to 10 000 animals at its annual peak.

There is a parking and picnic area nearby so you don't need to park on the Boulevard.
