Geocache Description:

My goodness, another cemetery micro! Bring your own writing instrument, even if the ink is orange. Please be sure to replace the cache exactly as you found it. The "SH" in the cache name above signifies a Spirit Hunt, a project by the Miami Valley Geocachers to distinguish those caches that are set in cemeteries or memorial gardens. As with any cache, please be respectful of the area.

I could find only a brief history of the Shiloh Park Cemetery online. It is transcribed from a document called Manual of the Shiloh Springs Christian Church, prepared in 1923 by Deacon D.W. Klepinger, Church Clerk. It goes like this, "Shiloh Springs Christian Church was organized in April, 1853 by Rev. Alexander McClain. Peter and Nancy Kaufman and Jacob and Mary Heikes were the original members. The building, a one-story brick, was erected in the summer of 1853, paid for at once and dedicated Christmas Day by Rev. N. Summerville. One acre of ground was deeded for the church and graveyard by Peter Kaufman. The graveyard is beautifully located and well studded with evergreens. The first interment in it was the young child of Jacob Heikes in January of 1854."
