Geocache Description:

Looking for an Silver Ammo Box. In an effort to recognize those who pass a major milestone, Special Ed and Fallen Faery have started the tradition of placing milestone caches. Caches will be placed for every 1000 found. It's just a small way to congratulate local cachers and their efforts

We have decided to make the theme of this cache 'Be Prepared' to help the local cachers to make sure their geocaching goody bag had the items they might need. Try to keep in the theme and trade items that might help another cacher when an emergency might arise.

This cache placed in recognition of Cachew Nut's 1000th find.

'The Nut'! :)

Before I started geocaching he and I would be on Cub Scout campouts and he would always have his GPSr on hand. He would tell me stories and get a group together and go on a hunt to find the ever present geocache in the area. We did this a few times and I even checked out the website.

A few months later, based on the information I had gotten from him I bought my first GPSr for a campout I was going on in the Panther Den Wilderness in the Shawnee National Forest in southern Illinois.

The GPSr was great on that campout as I was able to put locations to the beautiful spots we discovered and we were able to wander aimlessly being able to always return to our campsite.

When I returned, of course, I started geocaching in earnest and whose geocaches did I decide to cut my teeth on? You guessed it, The Nut!

... and boy, oh boy, what caches! It all started with Keystone, three trips to find that one and then we moved onto his near the DesPlaines River and Grand... Full Cavity Search and the DesPlaines River Rats.

Yikes!

The stories were always interesting and making the find very satisfying. A great teacher.

This cache isn't as tricky as his have been but it does have a fun little twist that should keep it interesting.

Thanks, Cachew Nut, for the addiction. Here's to your next 1000!

On a side note to explain the contents of the cache. Cachew Nut has always been involved with volunteer rescue groups. In the back of his van is the ever present duffel bag filled with all sorts of emergency gear.

He has helped out in all types of emergencies. From tornados in the Midwest to hurricanes in Florida to, even, toxic spills in residential areas.

Let's follow his lead and try to 'Be Prepared' for emergencies that might arise.
