This cache was changed to a traditional cache 7/10/12 due to too many magnets disappearing.
This cache celebrates our 1998 Dodge Stratus reaching the100,000 mile mark on March 3, 2002. The coordinates point to where the car was when it hit 100,000 miles, not the cache itself. Near the coordinates is a business card sized magnet with the coordinates for the cache. It should be close enough that if you look for a place where you would hide a small magnet, I think you will find it easily. The cache mostly has items for cars (or did when it was placed in 2002.) Since this is a rest stop, we are leaving our first travel bug, “Comet Horse” to rest here before she starts her journey. We hope to see other travel bugs here in the future. We plan to leave at least three more travelers, one for each member of our family (all four started here and Comet Horse was the most successful.)
This mother goose was at N38°24.861 W081°49.877. The eggs had hatched by 5/3/02, and we saw the goslings several times as they grew up. There are still geese in this area quite often and we've seen other families of geese and ducks near here. The trailhead can be seen from here. It's at N38°24.846' W081°49.912'.
Don't forget to log your find both at the cache and here online. The same with the travel bugs.
Have fun!
Updates:
Man In The Wild's Car hit 200,000 miles Sunday, December 19, 2004 in Dayton, OH.
A few months later, the car reached its end. Another car turned in front of me and totalled our car. The car did its job by protecting me in the accident, but it was obvious when I got out that it would never be driven again. We wish we still had our Stratus since it served us so well. (5/14/05)
We are currently driving Queenfish's mom's old Taurus. It should be reaching 150,000 miles in a few days...
Now we've been driving a Chevrolet Venture minivan for a few years and have put way too many miles on this vehicle. The Taurus is still around but not being used. (5/17/09)
The Venture is still moving along and we may need to hide a cache for it soon… It just reached 190,000 miles in the last couple days. (7/8/11)
Original coordinates N 38° 25.045 W 081° 49.897. I am changing coordinates today to the final coordinates due to having to replace too many magnets.
