The name tells the story. However, it really is not that bad if you read the long description carefully. The area is called Beardsley Boulder Pile. Just North of the 101 & just west of Cave Creek Rd. Take Lone Cactus West off of Cave Creek Rd and park at the designated area. The mountain has a giant rock slide on the Northeast Corner. Walk 1/3 mile to those boulders and follow the description below.
(Note: No motorized vehicles allowed in this area. The City of Phoenix Park and Recreation, the Phoenix Police and a COP private security also patrol it. The water treatment plant next to the maintenance yard has been on high alert since 9/11 and the area is well guarded making it a safe place for families out to have fun.)
The standard parking area is located at (N33*4046.3 W112*02'16.8) From the parking area it is just a short walk to the cache and bouldering area. (1/3 mi) This area is very popular with hikers, horseback riders and rock climbers.
The Cache is in a large Tupperware container white/gray/clear plastic about 12 inches square 5 inches deep. It is hidden fairly well out of site but not covered by any rocks. I would not recommend this area once it warms up and the rattlesnakes appear; we saw 3 here at one time last summer.
We actually don't believe this is a very difficult cache to find.
There is a log book, many pens, a cassette tape, a CD, a solar powered calculator, key chains, brand new 4 pack of AA batteries, tiny kids books, etc... Lots of stuff for fun.
The area can also be reached from the North and South. The North side is not the best because of private property issues and the South side makes it about a mile walk in. So just take the Lone Cactus road and turn West 100 feet South of the CAP canal next to the Desert Landscaping and park in the designated area. Good luck, we hope to hear from a lot of you soon. DD
