Colinizing Odenton- UTM Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

drbugman: It's been a really good run with this, my first cache and namesake. I've moved to northern VA and it's tough to get back here regularly. It's time to free up this section for some other caches. I removed the containers this afternoon. Thanks!!

Geocache Description:

This is an easy two-stage multi with a twist: the coordinates for Stage 2 are written using the UTM system and can be found on the inside cover of the Stage 1 container. I was introduced to geocaching (thanks Mary Ann and Jerry!) using the UTM system and wanted to throw it in for my first cache. Both stages are labeled key containers that have been camouflaged slightly to blend in with the surroundings. Bring your own pencil.
There was a Maine Geocoin and a 20 peso (Mexican, worth about 2 dollars) note for the first two that found the cache.
You can walk to Stage 2 along a paved trail or drive to it. If you walk to it, email me your time from when you find Stage 1 and I'll post the fastest.
Both stages should be handicapped accessible or very nearly so (that was the intent), though I recommend driving to Stage 2 if this applies to you.
I was doing Odenton geocaches (thanks Bored of Ed) while down here for a job interview and decided it would be a good place to live when I got the job.

The hint applies to both stages.

First to Find honors go to Grandpa and Grandma who found it within hours of its posting.

NOTE: at least with my Garmin MAP 76 you can change your units to UTM, mark a waypoint, key in the UTM numbers, and then convert the units back to degrees and minutes.

Redshar now has the lead for the fastest time for finding Stage 2 on foot by beating her husband GeoJohar who also jogged to Stage 2! Please don't post your "on foot" traveling time in the log; it makes it more fun if you don't know the time to beat!

Thorns MAY be a little bit of an issue at Stage 2 later in season but aren't now (April).
