Geocache Description:

Found this spot on a trip to the area for some more research into Tisa's family history and found this cool place.

Well the story goes something like this: On the south side of Caney Creek was a large dead oak tree that has a sinister past. In 1892 a young man (George Washington Brazil II, Tisa's Great Grandfather) was walking through the woods hunting his father George Washington Brazil I horse, when he came upon a group of very mean and angry men who were hanging a man from a tree. When the group saw the young man they caught him and told him that if he ever told anyone he would not only kill him but kill his whole family. The little boy got on his found horse and rode as fast as he could home near Pauley and brought his family back to see a man hung from the oak tree. They cut him free and buried hm properly and marked the grave for his resting place. Now there is a very small marker that shows the place where the unknown man was buried. The small area around the spot has no vegetation growing around it and we could not locate the tree .
