A very kid friendly "old
school" cache. A short hike, a pond to fish in and have fun near,
and cool swag. It is less than 400' from the parking area to the
cache.
Frosty Hollow Pond is a Kids Only, trout stocked pond. For more
information visit the DEM
Website. The walk is relatively easy, and the pond is very
pretty and will give the kids something to do. Even if only to
throw rocks in it! The cache is located just off the trail near a
spot next to a stream. So come on over, find the cache, get some
lures wet, and enjoy the area. The cache is starting out with
kid-friendly goodies, and if possible, please trade in kind.
To get here, take RT 165 West from RT 3 ~2.8 miles, and take a
right onto Frosty Hollow Road (just before the small white church).
The pond is just shy of a mile up the dirt road. You can find maps
at the DEM's Website.. Be sure to
let someone know where you are headed, and bring a cellphone. An
emergency card such a
this one is also a good idea.
FTF honors will only go to a group that contains a child young
enough to fish here (14 years or younger). There is a special kid
friendly FTF prize (it's in the bag with the log book). If you
find the cache before a young cacher does, please leave the first
page blank for the FTF honors. Also, if you wouldn't mind, only
post a note until a young person logs a find. Then you can change
it to a "Found It". Thanks a bunch!
All users of state management areas, and all
hunters statewide, must wear at least 200 square inches of solid
daylight-fluorescent orange material from the first Saturday of
October through the end of the season, February 28. Additional
information for Turkey Season!
While you're here, be sure to also look for
Sloan's Spot which is just a short walk up the hill from the
pond. A kid's two-fer!
