A waterproof match container at a historical marker.
In 1838, a surveying party of 25 Texans ran into about 300 Kickapoo Indians on a buffalo hunt. The Kickapoo Indian Chief warned the party of an impending attack by a wild tribe of Indians called the Ionies. On Oct 8, 1838, after failing to heed warning to leave, the Texans were ambushed. Only seven of twenty five survived. After their escape, they came back to bury their comrades in a common grave at this location.
Near this cache is the historical marker and monument that commemorates those killed in the Battle Creek Massacre as well as those who escaped the attack in 1838.
This is a simple cache. Finding it is easy. Hiding it back to prevent it being seen while making the hide look totally natural is not-so-easy. Enjoy the cache.
I increased the terrain rating to a 1.5 because getting into the memorial area in a wheelchair may be difficult.

This has turned out to be one of my better caches. Simple, yet a fun stop. I would be Honored if anyone would like to use this cache as a qualifying cache for the Texas County Challenge.
